Arsenal host Leeds United at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday lunchtime in the first Premier League fixture after the autumn international break. The Gunners aim to recover from their defeat to Brighton nearly three weeks ago, while Leeds are one of five teams with an unbeaten start to the season and could climb above Arsenal with a rare win in north London.
International break impact
The three-week break has left Mikel Arteta with limited training time, as many of his players only returned from international duty this week. Arsenal have received positive news with Ben White, Piero Hincapie, Cristhian Mosquera and youngster Max Dowman all passed fit and available for selection.
For Leeds, James Trafford and Dominic Calvert-Lewin have returned from England duty unscathed and are ready to start at the Emirates.
Confirmed absentees and doubts
Arsenal will be without William Saliba (back) and Christos Tzolis (hamstring). Kai Havertz (hamstring) and Ezri Konsa (dead leg) are doubts, with Arteta making a late decision on the pair. Declan Rice is also a concern after withdrawing from the England squad for their Nations League quadruple-header.
“We have to manage him because he's had a few issues since he's come back from the World Cup, and we know the amount of games he's played in the last three years,” Arteta said in the pre-match press conference. “It was the sensible thing to do, and hopefully tomorrow he's available but some others are in doubt.”
Leeds injury list
Leeds boss Daniel Farke has confirmed Daniel James returned from international duty with a back injury and is set to miss out against Arsenal, alongside Joe Rodon (thigh) and Mateo Joseph (ACL). Summer signings Jean-Matteo Bahoya (ankle) and Harry Wilson (muscle) are in contention to feature after taking part in training.
