Several Arsenal players are set to miss their nations' final World Cup warm-up matches after the club secured a place in the Champions League final. Mikel Arteta's side will face either Bayern Munich or Paris Saint-Germain at the Puskas Arena in Budapest on 30 May, just days before the World Cup begins.
The Champions League final takes place six days after the conclusion of the Premier League season, meaning Arsenal's internationals will report late to their national teams. Brazil duo Gabriel Magalhaes and Gabriel Martinelli will miss the Selecao's friendly against Panama at the Maracana on 31 May, while Ecuador defender Piero Hincapie will be unavailable for his country's match against Saudi Arabia on 30 May.
Germany's Kai Havertz is also poised to miss the friendly against Finland on 31 May, while Norway captain Martin Odegaard and Sweden striker Viktor Gyokeres are likely to sit out the Scandinavian derby on 1 June. Belgium's Leandro Trossard and Netherlands defender Jurrien Timber are also doubtful for their respective warm-up fixtures.
England, whose World Cup campaign does not start until 17 June, have their first warm-up match against New Zealand on 6 June, meaning Declan Rice, Bukayo Saka and other Arsenal players could enjoy extra rest before linking up with Thomas Tuchel's squad. FIFA regulations state that clubs participating in UEFA finals are not required to release players for international duty until 30 June.
