Arsenal beat Everton 2-0 to move level with Man City

Arsenal secured a 2-0 victory over Everton at the Emirates Stadium, moving level on points with Manchester City at the top of the Premier League. Ezri Konsa scored his first goal for the club, and Gabriel Magalhães added a second-half header to seal the win.

Konsa opens the scoring from a set piece

The breakthrough came when Ezri Konsa slammed home his first goal for Arsenal, as the Premier League champions rediscovered their knack of scoring from set pieces. From that moment, the writing was on the wall for Everton manager David Moyes, who was facing his former captain Mikel Arteta.

It was Moyes's 14th visit to this stadium as Everton's manager, and his wait for a win there continued. Everton had gone six matches without defeat to start the season, but a second successive loss will add to concerns after confirmation that the club's American owners want out.

Gabriel seals the win

It took until midway through the second half for Gabriel Magalhães to make sure of the victory, directing his header home despite Kai Havertz jumping in front of him, to make it 2-0.

Arsenal never looked likely to let slip the chance of moving level on points at the top with Manchester City, who had lost to Aston Villa earlier in the day. This was hardly a vintage performance from Arteta's clinical side, but it didn't need to be against opponents who offered precious little in attack, even if they defended for their lives at times.
