Amorim Confirms Cunha Injury Not Serious as Zirkzee Starts for Man Utd
Amorim: Cunha injury not serious, Zirkzee starts

Amorim Delivers Positive Cunha Injury Update

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has delivered reassuring news regarding forward Matheus Cunha, confirming the injury he sustained in training is 'nothing serious'. The Brazilian was a late withdrawal from the squad to face Everton at Old Trafford after picking up a knock.

Zirkzee Steps In for Crucial Everton Clash

With Benjamin Sesko also sidelined, Amorim has turned to Joshua Zirkzee to lead the line as a false nine against the Toffees. This marks a rare start for the Dutch striker, who hasn't been in a Premier League starting XI since April. His last top-flight goal came against tonight's opponents, Everton, back in December.

Explaining his team selection to MUTV, Amorim said, 'It was a knock in training so I don't know how long he's going to stay out, I think it's nothing serious, but we cannot risk players.' He emphasised the need for a fully fit squad, adding, 'We have to show everybody, when you are not 100 per cent, we have a different player to cope with the demands of the game.'

United's Opportunity to Climb the Table

The manager justified his choice of Zirkzee as a direct replacement, noting the player's similar characteristics to the injured Cunha. 'We have a problem with Ben [Sesko] and we have a problem with Cunha,' Amorim stated. 'If you look at our team, I think Josh has, more or less, the same characteristics as Cunha in that position. We want to maintain what we worked with during the week and he is ready.'

The match presents a significant opportunity for Manchester United. Starting the day in tenth place, a victory over Everton could propel them to fourth in the Premier League table, leaving them just one point behind rivals Manchester City.
