Skydiver's Final Words Before Fatal Plunge Revealed

A young skydiver's final, heartbreaking words were heard for the first time at the inquest into her tragic death. Jade Damarell, a vibrant 25-year-old, fell 15,000 feet to her death following a devastating mid-air collision.

A Routine Jump Turns to Tragedy

The hearing at Lincoln Coroner's Court was told that the incident occurred on 14th August 2023 during a routine jump at the Sibson Airfield near Peterborough. Miss Damarell, an experienced skydiver with over 500 jumps, was participating in a formation skydive with several others when the catastrophe unfolded.

The Final Moments

Coroner Paul Smith read aloud a series of poignant and now chilling messages Jade had sent just moments before boarding the aircraft. Her final text, sent to a loved one, simply read: "I love you lots."

Witnesses described the horrifying moment the collision happened. Another skydiver involved in the jump provided a statement explaining how their parachutes became entangled after they bumped into each other at high speed.

A Desperate Struggle

Evidence presented to the court detailed the frantic efforts made by both skydivers to separate and deploy their reserves. Tragically, these efforts were in vain. The other skydiver managed to land safely with minor injuries, but Jade was unable to regain control.

"She was seen tumbling towards the ground," the coroner stated, painting a grim picture of the final descent.

A Life Full of Passion

The inquest heard emotional tributes to Jade, who was described as a "bright, passionate, and beloved individual" who lived for the thrill of skydiving. Her family, present in court, listened as the details of her final jump were recounted.

Recording a conclusion of misadventure, Coroner Paul Smith extended his deepest sympathies to Jade's grieving family, acknowledging the unimaginable pain of their loss.
