Lucy Mecklenburgh Shrugs Off Mummy-Shamers During Jubilee Celebrations

Former TOWIE star Lucy Mecklenburgh ignored online critics over the weekend as she celebrated the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee with a street party in Essex. The 30-year-old shared snaps on Instagram Stories of herself, her newborn daughter and two-year-old son Roman enjoying the festivities, days after receiving unsolicited parenting advice.

Some followers criticised Lucy for kissing her newborn on the lips, warning of the risk of cold sores or herpes. One commenter pleaded, “Please don't kiss your baby on the lips,” while others defended the mother, replying, “Her baby so mind your own Karen.” Lucy continued to post without addressing the remarks.

In one image, Lucy snuggled her daughter, who she and fiancé Ryan Thomas have struggled to name. Another showed Roman in blue shorts and a striped jumper. The couple welcomed their second child last month, and Lucy described the birth as “really positive and calm,” adding that it was “quite quick” compared to her first labour.

Lucy gave birth to Roman on 7 March 2020, weeks before the first UK lockdown. Ryan Thomas, known for playing Jason Grimshaw on Coronation Street, also has a 13-year-old daughter with former co-star Tina O’Brien. Lucy and Ryan got engaged in Italy in 2019.
