Sinner Calls Out Mum for Leaving Wimbledon Final

Jannik Sinner defeated Alexander Zverev 6-7, 7-6, 6-3, 6-4 in the 2026 Wimbledon final on Centre Court, retaining his title in a match lasting three hours and 46 minutes. After falling in a first-set tiebreak, the world No. 1 fought back to claim his fifth Grand Slam title, joining Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, and Carlos Alcaraz as champions who successfully defended their Wimbledon crown.

Mother's Nerves During Final

Sinner's mother, Siglinde, declined to sit in the Royal Box and repeatedly left the arena during the match, unable to bear the tension. In his victory speech, Sinner called her out, prompting laughter from the crowd. He said: "My mum, I see her, she left the stadium a couple of times. Being a player it's not easy, you know?"

Sinner's Speech Highlights

Sinner thanked his team and the fans, saying: "You [the fans] are the reason. There is no better place honestly to play tennis, standing here. You can feel the nerves on the Sunday morning when you wake up. You know that this is a very, very special day and you never know how many times you can come back on Sunday." He also praised Zverev, who won his first Grand Slam at the French Open last month, adding: "If you play like this, I'm very, very sure you're going to have this one at home as well."

Zverev's Runner-Up Speech

Zverev, who lost his fourth Slam final, joked: "Jannik, I don't really like you anymore! I lost to you nine times in a row..." He acknowledged Sinner's team and the crowd, saying: "It's a great honour to play on this Centre Court and it's because of the Royal Box as well. It's the most unique court in the entire world."
