Unbeaten Olympic silver medallist Ezra Whittaker faces Argentine veteran Facundo Suarez in a light-heavyweight bout tonight at the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool. The fight, originally scheduled as a co-main event, was elevated after local favourite Callum Smith withdrew injured from his WBO interim title clash against David Morrell.
Whittaker, 10-0-1 with one draw, last fought in November 2024, knocking out Benjamin Gavazi in the first round to claim the WBC silver light-heavyweight title. His sole draw came against Liam Cameron in 2024, but he avenged that result with a brutal stoppage victory six months later. Now signed to Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing, Whittaker weighed in at a career-heaviest 182.14lbs on Friday.
Suarez, 21-4 with 20 knockouts, has patchy recent form. He won his last outing against Sergio Santos Dantas in Argentina but has lost his three previous fights outside the country, including a 10th-round stoppage defeat to Lyndon Arthur in Bolton in 2023. He weighed 182.1lbs at Friday’s weigh-in.
The main card begins at 5pm BST, with ring walks expected around 9.20pm BST. The fight will be broadcast live in the UK on DAZN. Odds favour Whittaker to win by knockout, technical knockout or disqualification at 2/9, while Suarez is 11/1 for the same outcome.
