Boxing legend Ricky Hatton was 'in the best place he had been in for years' before his shock death, his family said at the inquest today. The boxing icon was discovered at his £1.7 million residence in Hyde, Greater Manchester on September 14 last year.
His manager Paul Speak, who found Hatton, attended alongside Jennifer Dooley - Hatton's ex-partner, Campbell, the boxer's son, his dad Ray, and his brother Matthew. At the inquest, Campbell told the court his father was 'very happy, always very laid back, except when it came to sport'. He added that his father was 'fearless' and 'always generous with people around him' but had struggled with his mental health.
The legendary fighter, nicknamed The Hitman, crossed paths with former girlfriend Claire Sweeney, 54, on ITV's Dancing On Ice in January 2024. The couple quickly became inseparable, with a source revealing 'electric chemistry'. However, their relationship came to an end in December 2024, though they stayed on amicable terms.
Before Claire, Ricky split from Playboy model Chelsea Claire, 14 years younger, in early 2024. Their brief relationship kicked off in summer 2023 but ended due to professional obligations. A source told The Sun: 'Ricky and Chelsea had a great time together, but it ended up being more of a fling.'
Beauty specialist Angela Blemmings started dating Ricky in July 2022, confirming their relationship after a romantic Dublin break. They attended the BBC Sports Personality Of The Year awards in December, but split in 2023. Ricky also dated Marie Pollard in 2016; they separated the following year but reignited their romance in 2021, posting pictures from a Croatian break.
