Fabio Wardley produced the biggest win of his career by stopping Joseph Parker in the 11th round at the O2 Arena, earning a shot at undisputed world heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk. The British heavyweight, who was still involved in white-collar boxing when Parker became world champion in 2016, showed tremendous resilience to overcome a tough opponent.
Parker, the WBO mandatory challenger, appeared in control for much of the fight, landing significant punches in the early rounds. However, Wardley survived a tricky seventh round and a dangerous ninth, before turning the tide in the 10th. In the 11th, a huge right hand wobbled Parker, and a flurry of further punches forced referee Howard Foster to step in and stop the contest.
Wardley, whose shorts bore the letters ITFC for Ipswich Town Football Club, had previously knocked out Justis Huni in June. His victory sets up a clash with Usyk, likely in 2026. Ringside spectators included Tyson Fury, Daniel Dubois, and Moses Itauma.
In other news, Derek Chisora and Dillian Whyte are expected to meet in a third fight on 13 December at the Co-op Live in Manchester. Chisora insisted the bout will happen, stating: 'The fight will happen in December with Dillian, 100% and it will be an explosive fight.'
