Anthony Joshua has hit back at Tyson Fury's taunts, insisting the Gypsy King will not get under his skin ahead of their potential mega-fight later this year. The British heavyweights are finally expected to collide after years of bitter rivalry, with Joshua first facing Kristian Prenga on Saturday night.
'Tyson Fury won't get under my skin,' Joshua said. 'It's about boxing and skill; I'm not trying to win a press conference or a weigh-in. I'm trying to win a fight. I don't think the Anthony Joshua from Watford needs to come out in that aspect – it needs to come out in the ring.'
Joshua, 36, has endured a decade of verbal abuse from his 37-year-old compatriot, but he is confident he can let Fury do the talking and focus on victory. 'I've seen Fury's community, and they're unbelievable talkers. I can't go up against someone who has been doing it since he was 10 and think I'm going to win. My job is to beat him in the ring.'
Looking further ahead, Joshua warned that he will outlast Fury after both men retire from the sport. 'Once this part of my life is done, you'll hear a lot more from me. When Fury wants to relax, I'll just be revving it up. I'll let him win the first 100m, but it will be that last 100m when I will be coming for him.'
