Jake Paul to Face Andre August in December Bout

Jake Paul will return to the ring on 15 December to face professional boxer Andre August at the Caribe Royale in Orlando, Florida. The event will be streamed live on DAZN but, for the first time since his professional debut against YouTuber AnEsonGib, it will not be a pay-per-view show.

Paul, who suffered his first defeat to Tommy Fury in February, got back to winning ways in August by outpointing Nate Diaz. The social media star has since expressed a desire to pursue a more traditional boxing path, moving away from fighting veteran MMA fighters.

“Ask and I shall deliver,” Paul wrote in the fight announcement. “August has more KOs than me, more wins than me, more experience than me, but I like to gamble. The path to world champ starts here. Just straight up boxing.”

In a recent interview with TMZ, Paul explained his shift in strategy: “The conclusion we are getting to is doing smaller events potentially and focusing on the fight, not the business side of it. Not needing it to be some big pay-per-view draw, just focusing on the sport.”

August, a 10-1-1 professional, has a higher knockout ratio than Paul. Paul aims to build his record against similarly experienced boxers, with a long-term goal of becoming world champion within six to eight years.
