Tyson Fury has hailed Moses Itauma as the 'future of boxing' after the 20-year-old knocked out Dillian Whyte in the first round of their heavyweight clash in Riyadh.
Itauma extended his perfect professional record to 13 wins with the devastating stoppage, sending the 37-year-old Whyte to the canvas inside two minutes. The southpaw dominated from the outset, landing a series of jabs and combinations before a powerful right hook ended the contest.
Fury took to social media to praise the young Briton, writing: 'There he is, the future of boxing. I've been saying it for years.'
Despite calls for a world title shot against Oleksandr Usyk, Itauma remained measured, telling the BBC: 'I don't want to call out Usyk because I don't believe I deserve the opportunity. Maybe Agit Kabayel, maybe Joseph Parker.'
Reflecting on the win, Itauma added: 'I'd love to get rounds in and Dillian Whyte was meant to give me rounds. But it's not really my fault. I've been working on this for 11 years.'
