Eddie Hearn labelled Chris Eubank Jr "an a***hole" after the boxer interrupted Hearn's attempt to pay tribute to Ricky Hatton during a press conference for the upcoming fight between Eubank Jr and Conor Benn. The boxing world was in mourning following the news of Hatton's death at the age of 46 on Sunday.
As Hearn tried to take "30 seconds" to honour one of Britain's most beloved fighters, Eubank Jr could be heard singing in the background. When Hearn requested, "Thirty seconds about Ricky Hatton," Eubank Jr replied, "There's no 30 seconds," and continued to interrupt despite Hearn's attempts to reason with him.
Losing his patience, Hearn exclaimed, "You are some a***hole you are." Eubank Jr responded dismissively, leading Hearn to fire back: "All I was going to do was say a few words about Ricky Hatton." Eubank Jr cut him off again, saying, "I don't want to hear any of your words," to which Hearn concluded, "Okay, I won't say anything. You're an a***hole, you talk s*** and you're going to get what's coming to you."
The press conference, held on Tuesday evening, was organised to promote Benn and Eubank Jr's second clash in November. Their first fight ended with Eubank Jr winning on points, with all three judges scoring it 116-112.
Benn arrived at the press conference wearing a Manchester City jersey as a mark of respect for Hatton, who was a devoted City supporter. The club had paid tribute to Hatton before their 3-0 win over Manchester United in the Manchester derby on Sunday. Eubank Jr also paid his respects to Hatton on social media after news of his passing emerged.
