Keely Hodgkinson's coaches, Trevor Painter and Jenny Meadows, were removed from their seats at the Alexander Stadium ahead of watching her defend her 800m title at the European Athletics Championships. The pair were reportedly sitting in the wrong seats and were moved further back before the semi-final on Thursday.
Coaches moved before semi-final
Hodgkinson, who is targeting a third consecutive 800m title, had earlier kicked off her quest with a breezy victory in her opening heat. But ahead of the semi-final, her coaches were asked to leave their original seats, with the situation broadcast live on the BBC.
BBC presenter reacts live on air
BBC presenter Jeanette Kwakye said: "Well I'm not sure what's happening here, but are we saying that the BBC Sport's Personality Coaches of the Year have just been removed from their seats, across the stadium – Jenny (Meadows) and Trevor (Painter) are going to kill us for this! But you know what, great entertainment, fantastic content."
