Keely Hodgkinson has sent her best wishes to Audrey Werro after her rival suffered a fall in the European Championship's 800m semi-final. Werro was leading the first semi-final before falling and has confirmed she will appeal the result in hopes of reaching the final.
Hodgkinson's reaction
Hodgkinson went on to win the second semi-final and was asked for her thoughts on Werro's fall, which happened a few minutes before the start of her race. "I heard an 'oooh' which is never a good sign," Hodgkinson said in an interview with the BBC. "But I don't know what it looked like."
Focus on her own race
When asked if seeing the fall would have changed her approach to the race, Hodgkinson added: "No not at all. You can't worry about what other people are doing or what happens to them."
Hopes for the final
"Obviously it's a real shame. I hope she's okay and I hope she's in the final tomorrow, that would be a really exciting race. All round, happy for myself to go through," she said.
