Audrey Werro, a rival to Keely Hodgkinson, has spoken out after a nasty fall in the 800m semi-final at the European Championships. The Swiss runner, who was leading the race, has appealed the result in hopes of advancing to the final.
Fall and appeal
Werro appeared to clip her own leg before falling, clutching her stomach and looking winded on the track. An investigation has been launched to determine if she will be granted a place in the final.
Speaking to the BBC, Werro said: "I was feeling really great until the last moment but unfortunately something happened and I was on the ground one second after. I hope I’ll be qualified for the final, I hope I’ll be able to go (to the final)."

When asked if she would appeal, Werro confirmed: "Yes, this is the reason why. I finished the race and it’s always important to go until the end. Now we will see what happens."
The outcome of the investigation will determine whether Werro competes in the final.
