The men's 100m heats marked the beginning of the athletics programme at Scotstoun Stadium on day four of the Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow.
Boxing and Weightlifting
In boxing, Paddy Hewitt of England faced Orlando Holley-Sotomi of Wales in the men's 70kg category. In weightlifting, Edidiong Umoafia of Nigeria took gold in the men's 71kg event, while Emmanuel Boateng of Ghana also competed. Kester Loy of Singapore took a dramatic tumble during the men's 71kg clean and jerk.
Swimming and Gymnastics
Barbados swimmer Victor Ashby competed in the men's 200m butterfly heats. Australia's Jenna Forrester and Scotland's Evi Mackie were in action in the women's 400m individual medley heats. In artistic gymnastics, Australia's Georgia Godwin competed in the women's all-around final, while James Hardy of Australia and Scotland's Reuben Ward took part in the men's floor exercise final.
Other Events
Scotland's Angela McAuslan-Kelly gave it everything in the women's hammer throw qualifying. In wheelchair basketball, Tomas Klein of Australia fell onto his back during a men's pool match against Canada. Also notable was the colourful hairstyle of Saint Helena's Tye Leo-Stroud after the men's 100m heats, and Ghana's Benjamin Azamati leading the action at the start of the same race.
