A British woman has tragically died after falling during a hike in the Pyrenees mountains. The 42-year-old was on Balaitus Peak when the incident occurred, prompting an alarm to be raised around 7.30pm on Saturday evening.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her 53-year-old partner, who was with her at the time of the fall, was reported to be unharmed. A spokesperson for the Civil Guard stated that they are treating her death “as a tragic accident resulting from a fall” and confirmed that an investigation is currently underway.

The FCDO spokesperson said, “We are supporting the family of a British woman who has died in France and are in touch with the local authorities.”
