Former President Donald Trump has become embroiled in a fresh controversy after launching a series of brutal insults at a journalist and a state governor who questioned the details of his recent medical scan.
A Heated Exchange on Air Force One
The incident unfolded during a press briefing aboard Air Force One on Sunday night. Trump was addressing the MRI he received as part of his physical examination last month, a topic thrust into the spotlight after Minnesota Governor Tim Walz publicly demanded the results be released.
When asked for his response to the governor's calls for transparency, Trump retorted, 'They were perfect like my phone call where I got impeached. Absolutely perfect. If you want to have it released, I'll release it.' This was a direct reference to his 2019 phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, which led to his first impeachment.
The confrontation escalated when a female reporter pressed him on what specific part of his body the MRI was examining. Trump responded dismissively, 'I have no idea. It was just an MRI. It wasn't the brain because I took a cognitive test and aced it. I got a perfect mark which you would be incapable of doing,' while pointing directly at the journalist.
The Genesis of the Feud
This public clash is the latest development in a bitter war of words between Trump and Governor Walz. The conflict ignited last week when Trump used a social media post to label Walz 'seriously retarded.' The insult was repeated on Thanksgiving night, with the former president calling the governor 'a retard.'
During the press conference, Trump was challenged by another reporter who stated that 'many Americans' find the term offensive. Trump stood by his comments, replying, 'Absolutely. You have a problem with it? You know what? I think there's something wrong with him.'
He further justified his rage by accusing Walz of allowing 'hundreds of thousands of Somalian migrants' into Minnesota, claiming they 'prey' on innocent people.
Questions Over Presidential Health
The core of the dispute revolves around the mystery of Trump's medical scan. In late October, Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed the president had undergone 'advanced imaging' at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. She stated the results showed Trump remains in 'exceptional physical health' but did not specify which part of his body was scanned.
Leavitt initially promised to provide more information but, when questioned again in mid-November, avoided giving a direct answer.
In response to Trump's insults, Governor Walz took to social media platform X with a simple demand: 'Release the MRI results.' Later, in an interview on Meet the Press, Walz expressed serious concerns about Trump's state of mind and health, suggesting his behaviour was 'not normal' and 'not healthy.'
This ongoing saga highlights the intense scrutiny surrounding the health of presidential candidates and the deeply personal nature of modern political rivalries.
