Zack Polanski Faces Scrutiny Over Resurfaced Hypnosis Claims

A newly-resurfaced BBC Radio Humberside interview from 2013 has cast doubt on Green Party leader Zack Polanski's long-standing insistence that he immediately apologised for suggesting hypnosis could increase a woman's breast size. The interview, which emerged this week, appears to show Mr Polanski defending the controversial claim days after the initial report, directly contradicting his subsequent statements as a politician.

Contradictory Evidence Emerges

The controversy dates back to 2013 when Mr Polanski, then working as a hypnotherapist, told a Sun newspaper journalist that hypnosis could potentially enhance breast size. He has maintained for years that he was misrepresented in that initial interview and apologised the following day, recognising the offensive nature of such claims.

However, the BBC Radio Humberside interview from 18 June 2013 - recorded six days after the original Sun article - presents a different narrative. In conversation with presenter Peter Levy, Mr Polanski stated: "Actually increasingly more and more as I work with people, there's starting to become anecdotal evidence, at least, of a growth in breast size."

He further elaborated on his belief that "it can happen" and referenced a "successful project" with the journalist, while noting that "at the moment I'm not charging people for breast enhancement."

Political Career Contradictions

These resurfaced comments appear to stand in stark contrast to claims Mr Polanski has made since entering politics and rising through Green Party ranks. When questioned by ITV's Good Morning Britain in September last year about whether he believed at the time that hypnosis could enlarge women's breasts, he responded with a simple: "No."

Similarly, during a 2024 interview with LBC when serving as deputy leader of the Greens, Mr Polanski stated: "I apologised immediately, the day after the article 11 years ago, to say that doesn't represent my work... I apologised because I recognise that can be offensive to people."

Political Reaction and Fallout

The emergence of this contradictory evidence has prompted strong reactions from political opponents. A Labour source responded sharply to the resurfaced interview, stating: "Zack Polanski's ego might have got bigger but nothing else has. It's now clear that his pretence to have been misrepresented over his breast enlargement hypnosis scam was absolute nonsense - he got called out years later and he lied about it."

The source continued with a broader criticism: "You can't trust a word he says - he'll say whatever he thinks you want to hear." This development comes at a sensitive time for the Green Party as they seek to establish credibility on environmental and social issues.

The Greens have been contacted for comment regarding the resurfaced interview and the apparent contradictions in their leader's statements. The timing of this revelation raises questions about political accountability and consistency, particularly for a party that positions itself as offering an alternative to traditional political approaches.

This controversy highlights the challenges politicians face when past statements and professional backgrounds come under renewed scrutiny, especially when those statements appear to contradict current political positions and public apologies.
