Green party leader Zack Polanski has faced renewed scrutiny over his past claims that hypnosis can increase breast size, after a BBC interview from 2013 emerged showing him standing by the assertion. Polanski had previously stated he apologised immediately after a Sun article in June 2013, but the BBC could not locate an interview from that day and instead found one six days later where he did not apologise.
In the BBC Humberside interview, Polanski described the Sun journalist's experience as 'a successful project', noting she reported a four-inch growth, though her cup size remained the same. He said he had tried the technique with others and saw 'anecdotal evidence' of growth, adding, 'I believe that it can happen in theory.' He also expressed a preference for using sessions to improve body image rather than change breast size.
A Labour source criticised Polanski, stating: 'Zack Polanski’s ego might have got bigger, but nothing else has. It’s now clear that his pretence to have been misrepresented over his breast enlargement hypnosis scam was absolute nonsense.'
When asked by the Guardian in May last year, Polanski expressed regret, saying he was 'a young Londoner who was holding down four jobs' at the time and saw it as a way to discuss body image. He reiterated his apology, saying, 'What I’m careful about, though, is that that is not justification … I’ve apologised for it, and I stick by that apology.'
A Green party source defended Polanski, saying: 'Zack has repeatedly apologised for an interview he did with the Sun more than a decade ago. Now, Zack is focused on the issues that really matter to people: bringing down bills, protecting the NHS and rebuilding our public services.'
