Hillary Clinton testified before the House Oversight Committee on Thursday, stating under oath that she never met Jeffrey Epstein and had no knowledge of his or Ghislaine Maxwell's crimes. 'I do not recall ever encountering Mr. Epstein. I never flew on his plane or visited his island, homes or offices. I have nothing to add to that,' she said.
Clinton described Epstein as a 'heinous individual' but argued he was 'far from alone'. She urged the committee to investigate without partisan bias, including questioning Donald Trump. The closed-door session was briefly interrupted after right-wing podcaster Benny Johnson posted a photo of the proceedings, reportedly provided by Representative Lauren Boebert.
Committee Chair James Comer defended the decision to question the Clintons, stating the investigation is not partisan. Meanwhile, Democrats called for Trump to be deposed 'immediately', citing his frequent mentions in Epstein files. They also demanded the release of an unedited transcript of Clinton's testimony within 24 hours.
The Justice Department announced it would investigate whether Epstein-related documents were improperly withheld, following reports that records concerning a woman who accused Trump of sexual abuse as a minor were not disclosed. Senate Democrats launched their own review of unredacted Epstein files, alleging a cover-up.
Separately, New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani met with Trump at the White House, calling the meeting 'productive'. He later said Trump assured him that Columbia University student Elaina Aghayeva, arrested by ICE agents, would be released imminently.
