In a stunning and inflammatory broadcast, prominent conservative commentator and Turning Point USA founder, Charlie Kirk, has levelled a breathtaking accusation against the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Kirk asserted that the agency had secretly greenlit a plot to assassinate former President Donald Trump during its August 2022 raid on his Mar-a-Lago estate.
The claim, which has sent shockwaves through political circles, was made on Kirk's widely syndicated radio show. He based his allegation on a standard procedural footnote within the FBI's operational plan for the search, which authorised the use of deadly force only in extreme circumstances, a routine clause in all such law enforcement operations.
A Standard Procedure Misrepresented as a Murder Plot
Kirk, however, presented this boilerplate language as something far more sinister. "They were authorised to use lethal force," Kirk declared to his audience. "What does that mean? They were coming in to kill him. They were coming in to kill him, or at least they had the option to."
He was backed by former Trump administration Pentagon official Kash Patel, who appeared on the show and echoed the baseless claim, further fuelling the incendiary narrative.
FBI and Legal Experts Issue Swift and Firm Denials
The FBI moved quickly to shut down the dangerous misinformation. In an official statement, the Bureau clarified that the inclusion of such a 'deadly force' policy is a standard and mandatory part of its operations order. It is designed to outline the limits of engagement for agents who might face armed resistance, not to authorise a premeditated attack.
Legal experts and former prosecutors have universally condemned Kirk's interpretation as grossly irresponsible and factually incorrect. They emphasise that the document in question is a standard template, used in thousands of searches, and its presence actually demonstrates the FBI was following normal protocols to ensure the safety of all involved.
This incident is the latest in a series of unfounded claims from Trump allies regarding the Mar-a-Lago investigation, which centres on the former president's handling of highly sensitive classified documents after leaving office.
