Mikel Arteta is set to be rewarded for Arsenal's Premier League title success with a new contract, as the club prepares for another significant summer transfer window. The Gunners are keen to extend the contract of their title-winning manager by two years, with Arteta's current deal expiring in 2027.
Arteta's Remarkable Achievement
In six and a half years at the Emirates, Arteta has transformed Arsenal into champions, securing the club's first Premier League title in 22 years. His success has established him as one of Europe's top coaches, and he is expected to receive a substantial pay rise from his current £5 million per year, along with lucrative Champions League bonuses.
Transfer Plans
Arsenal's sporting director, Andrea Berta, is focusing on strengthening the forward line, with Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez emerging as a key target. Alvarez appeals due to his proven top-level ability, goal-scoring record, and versatility across multiple positions—a crucial factor in Arsenal's recruitment strategy.
The club also aims to bolster the left wing and central midfield. West Ham's Mateus Fernandes and Newcastle's Sandro Tonali are among the names being considered, while Porto's Victor Froholdt has been monitored. Additionally, Arsenal would ideally sign a centre-half to strengthen the squad depth.
Departures Expected
This summer's transfer activity will not match last year's £250 million spending spree, which brought in Viktor Gyokeres and Noni Madueke. Arsenal will need to sell players to balance the books. Gabriel Jesus, with one year left on his contract, could depart due to limited game time. Borussia Dortmund remain interested in Ethan Nwaneri, and selling an academy graduate would generate pure profit. Gabriel Martinelli is also attracting interest as he is no longer a guaranteed starter.
Arsenal's 2026/27 home kit, featuring 'Champions 26' printing, is now available for fans to celebrate the historic title win.
