The House Oversight Committee has released a 238-page scrapbook given to Jeffrey Epstein on his 50th birthday, containing a letter bearing Donald Trump's signature. The note, which Trump previously denied writing, depicts an imagined conversation between the two men and includes the line: 'We have certain things in common, Jeffrey,' wishing 'every day be another wonderful secret.'
The scrapbook, titled 'The First Fifty Years,' includes a second reference to Trump: an image of Epstein holding an oversized cheque for $22,500 with a 'Trump' signature. Partly redacted text below suggests Epstein showed 'early talents with money + women' and that he had sold something to Trump who was 'fully depreciated.'
Other high-profile contributors include former President Bill Clinton, UK Ambassador to Washington Peter Mandelson, billionaire Leon Black, and Harvard law professor Alan Dershowitz. The volume contains sexually explicit material, including drawings of Epstein receiving massages and photos of animals engaged in sex.
Trump has not publicly responded to the release, but NBC News reported he called it a 'dead issue.' The White House deputy chief of staff for communications, Taylor Budowich, suggested the signature was falsified, citing Trump's defamation suit against News Corp. However, analysis shows Trump's signature on a 1995 letter closely resembles the one in the scrapbook.
House Democrat Robert Garcia said the committee 'secured the infamous Birthday Book' and called on Trump to 'tell us the truth about what he knew and release all the Epstein files.' The scrapbook was turned over in response to a subpoena from Republican Chair James Comer and a letter from Democrats Sylvia Garcia and Ro Khanna.
