TV Surgeon Terry Dubrow Faces Negligence Lawsuit Over 2014 Breast Augmentation
Terry Dubrow Sued Over Breast Surgery Complications

Reality television star and prominent plastic surgeon Terry Dubrow is facing a legal challenge from a former patient who alleges negligence during a breast augmentation procedure performed a decade ago. The 67-year-old doctor, best known for co-hosting the E! series Botched, is being sued over complications arising from a 2014 surgery, according to documents obtained by the Daily Mail.

Allegations of Surgical Complications and Unapproved Materials

The plaintiff claims that Dubrow used a non-FDA approved SERI Surgical Scaffold mesh material during her breast augmentation surgery. She alleges this led to severe bleeding that necessitated two additional corrective surgeries. In her lawsuit, she states that a subsequent treating physician believes a hematoma in her right breast was likely caused by the controversial mesh implant.

Beyond physical suffering, the woman asserts she experienced significant financial losses due to an inability to work and substantial medical expenses for corrective procedures. Her legal action seeks reimbursement for medical costs, compensation for potential future corrective surgeries, and damages for lost income.

Dubrow's Forceful Denial and Legal History

Dr. Dubrow has responded forcefully to the allegations, telling TMZ: "This case will be dismissed very quickly. The surgery was 12 years ago and the claims are not only untrue but a complete fantasy. The malicious prosecution counterclaim will be very interesting."

This is not the first legal entanglement for the celebrity surgeon. In 2020, he was involved in a high-profile lawsuit where he alleged a former patient was attempting to extort $5 million from him by claiming she nearly died following a procedure. That case was ultimately dismissed by a judge, after which Dubrow filed a defamation suit against the plaintiff's lawyer.

A Public Figure in Medicine and Entertainment

Terry Dubrow has built a dual career as a respected reconstructive plastic surgeon and a reality television personality. He has co-hosted eight seasons of Botched with Dr. Paul Nassif, a show specialising in correcting extreme cases of failed plastic surgery. Dubrow also appears alongside his wife, Heather Dubrow, on The Real Housewives of Orange County.

Recent Personal and Financial Developments

The lawsuit emerges as the Dubrows have been publicly discussing their own financial vulnerabilities. On their joint podcast, Between Us, the couple recently revealed they lost millions in a sophisticated financial scam orchestrated by an individual they believed was a certified public accountant.

Heather Dubrow explained that this person, actually a tax preparer with limited experience, involved Terry in a fraudulent scheme related to apartment rentals for the World Cup. The couple has described the experience as a "blessing in disguise" that made them more financially savvy and cautious.

In a related lifestyle change, the Dubrows recently sold their 9,000-square-foot Beverly Hills mansion for $16.5 million to an international, non-celebrity buyer. With three of their four children now adults, Terry and Heather are reportedly transitioning to apartment living to facilitate more travel. The couple shares twin sons Nick and Max, 21, daughter Kat, 18, and youngest son Ace, 14.

The Daily Mail has contacted representatives for Terry Dubrow for further comment on the ongoing negligence lawsuit.
