PSG Defender Lucas Hernandez Faces Human Trafficking Allegations
Paris Saint-Germain defender Lucas Hernandez, the 2018 World Cup winner with France, and his partner Victoria Triay have been accused of human trafficking and exploitation by a family of Colombian workers. The serious allegations, currently being investigated by the Versailles prosecutor's office, have sent shockwaves through the football world.
Gruelling Working Conditions Alleged
According to the family's lawyer Lola Dubois, Hernandez and Triay employed the family of five to work as security personnel and babysitters from September 2024 until November 2025 without providing proper legal status. The Colombian workers allegedly endured extremely demanding conditions, working up to 82 hours per week without any days off while receiving what they describe as 'insufficient' compensation paid exclusively in cash.
The daughter of the family told French publication Paris Match that she was initially contacted by Triay while working as her nurse in Colombia. Triay is said to have offered her employment and 'promised' official documentation that would legally permit her to work within six months—a promise that was reportedly never fulfilled.
Legal Irregularities and Fake Documents
Lawyer Dubois highlighted significant legal irregularities in the employment arrangement. 'Without employment contracts, they are not entitled to unemployment benefits or adequate social security coverage,' she stated. 'The fact that he never bothered to provide them with an employment contract demonstrates the intent behind the offence.'
The situation became more complex when, after allegedly signing confidentiality agreements in February 2025, the family received fake identity cards. According to Dubois, Hernandez only offered official employment contracts in October last year following an argument between the daughter and Triay—documents she describes as 'drawn up at the last minute in an attempt to regularize the situation.'
These contracts reportedly stated that the family worked approximately 86 hours per month for a gross monthly salary of €1,029 (£896), a figure that contradicts the family's claims of much longer working hours.
Dangerous Incident and Family's Claims
The daughter made further serious claims that the family 'risked our lives' for Hernandez and his partner, particularly during an attempted burglary at the footballer's home in December 2024. During this incident, the family's father allegedly fired a gun to scare away the robbers, highlighting the dangerous situations they reportedly faced while working for the couple.
Couple's Vehement Denial
Hernandez and Triay have issued a strong statement denying all allegations, describing themselves as 'completely taken aback' by the claims. 'We opened our home and our lives to people who presented themselves as friends, who sought our kindness and for whom we had genuine affection,' the couple stated.
They added: 'We helped them, supported them, and believed them when they assured us that they were in the process of regularising their situation. That trust has been betrayed.'
The couple expressed their distress at seeing 'a gesture of trust and humanity turned into public attacks and accusations,' describing the ordeal as 'deeply painful for our family.' They emphasized that the matter is now being handled through proper legal channels and called for 'decency, restraint, and respect.'
Football Career Context
The allegations come during a challenging period in Hernandez's professional career. The 29-year-old defender, who began his career at Atletico Madrid before moving to Bayern Munich in 2019 where he won the Champions League, joined PSG in 2023 and secured a second Champions League trophy last season. However, this campaign has seen him largely relegated to the bench, starting just 11 games.
As the Versailles prosecutor's office continues its investigation, these serious allegations against one of French football's most prominent figures have raised significant questions about employment practices in professional sports households.
