LA 2028 Olympics Chair Casey Wasserman Expresses Deep Regret Over Ghislaine Maxwell Emails
The Hollywood mogul overseeing the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics has publicly expressed his profound regret over a series of flirtatious emails exchanged with Ghislaine Maxwell, the convicted associate of Jeffrey Epstein. Casey Wasserman, who chairs the LA 2028 Olympic Committee and leads a major talent agency, issued a statement to the Daily Mail addressing the correspondence, which was revealed in the latest substantial release of Epstein-related documents by the Department of Justice on Friday morning.
Wasserman's Statement of Regret
In his formal statement, Wasserman stated: 'I deeply regret my correspondence with Ghislaine Maxwell, which took place over two decades ago, long before her horrific crimes came to light.' He further emphasised: 'I never had a personal or business relationship with Jeffrey Epstein. As is well documented, I went on a humanitarian trip as part of a delegation with the Clinton Foundation in 2002 on the Epstein plane. I am terribly sorry for having any association with either of them.'
The emails, dating back to 2003, show Wasserman, then 51 and less than two years into his marriage to Laura Ziffren, engaging in highly suggestive discussions with Maxwell. In one message from April 1, 2003, he asked: 'Where are you, I miss you. I will be in NYC for 4 days starting april 22… can we book that massage now?' Notably, his wife was eight months pregnant with their son during this period of communication.
Revealing Email Exchanges
The released correspondence includes a flurry of messages where Maxwell, now 64 and imprisoned for grooming, trafficking, and abusing minors with Epstein, responded with provocative remarks. On April 3, 2003, she wrote: 'all that rubbing - are you sure you can take it?' and added: 'There are a few spots that apparently drive a man wild - I suppose I could practise them on you and you could let me know if they work or not?'
Further emails reveal Maxwell signing off with 'Kisses' and Wasserman replying with 'xoxo'. In one exchange, when Wasserman commented on LA's overcast June weather, Maxwell retorted: 'What foggy enough so that you can float naked down the beach and no one can see you unless they are close up? Or something like that…' This was sent on April 7, 2003.
International Flirtations and Travel Plans
On April 6, 2003, Maxwell wrote from Paris: 'Thought you might like to know I am now in Paris - can I bring you back anything from Here?' Wasserman replied: 'The only thing that i want from paris is you.' The following day, she discussed bringing edible treats from London, asking: 'Ok, so that combo did not do it for you, what combo would then?' He responded: 'You, me, and not else much…'
Other emails indicate Maxwell arranging a trip from Los Angeles to New York on Wasserman's jet. The Daily Mail had previously obtained an undated photograph showing a younger Wasserman with Epstein and Maxwell in front of a private plane. Flight logs confirm that Wasserman and his then-wife flew with Epstein, Bill Clinton, Kevin Spacey, and Chris Tucker to Africa for an HIV charity event in 2002. It is important to note that there is no suggestion Wasserman participated in any of Epstein's crimes, and this trip occurred before the criminal investigation into Epstein's sex trafficking began.
Wasserman's Prominent Position and Past Controversies
Casey Wasserman is a significant figure in Hollywood, heading a top music and movie agency that represents artists like Coldplay, Ed Sheeran, and Billie Eilish, the latter through his acquisition of Paradigm in 2021. His high-profile status was evident at his 600-person 50th birthday bash in Santa Monica in June 2024, which included guests such as former President Bill Clinton, ex-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, California Governor Gavin Newsom, and Doug Emhoff, husband of Vice President Kamala Harris. Maxwell, however, was absent and incarcerated.
This revelation adds to existing controversies surrounding Wasserman. In 2024, the Daily Mail reported allegations from eleven sources, including some alleged mistresses, about his romantic affairs with staffers throughout his marriage. Sources claimed he 'love bombed' women with gifts like Louboutin shoes and Range Rovers before ending relationships abruptly. Alleged affairs included his secretary Patricia Feau, now in a $350,000 role at the LA28 Olympic nonprofit, and former flight attendant Jenny Chandler, his current girlfriend.
Feau denied the affair when contacted, and Wasserman dismissed the allegations as gossip, telling CNBC in September 2024: 'If The Daily Mail qualifies as reporting, then I guess we're all in trouble. But we live in a day and age where people can say whatever they want without facts, without cooperation, without sources, and it's the world we live in.'
The flirtatious emails with Maxwell may prove particularly embarrassing for Wasserman as he leads preparations for the LA 2028 Olympics, a role that demands public trust and integrity. His statement of regret aims to distance himself from the association, highlighting the correspondence as a historical misjudgment from over twenty years ago.
