Ipswich Powerball Winner Yet to Claim $50 Million Prize

A mystery Powerball winner in Ipswich, Queensland, has yet to come forward to claim their $50 million share of last week's record-breaking $150 million draw. While a Sydney father and a Brisbane man have already collected their winnings, the third ticket holder remains unidentified, prompting lottery officials to urge residents in the area to check their tickets.

The Lott spokesperson Lauren Cooney confirmed that the unclaimed ticket was purchased from a newsXpress newsagent in Brassal, Ipswich. Shop owner Dave Bassi speculated that the winner might be an elderly regular customer who has not paid attention to the news. 'It could be someone who comes in once a week who is a regular customer,' he said. 'Hopefully they'll come along this week.'

The Sydney dad, who bought his ticket last minute, described waking up a multi-millionaire as 'speechless' and said his wife did not believe him. The Brisbane man, who did not sleep after discovering his win, expressed a desire to build a house and spend time with family. In addition to the three major winners, 18 division-two winners each received nearly $126,000.

The winning numbers were 26, 4, 17, 5, 18, 8, 31 and the Powerball was 9. The prize jackpotted from $100 million after no winner in the previous draw. Lottery officials estimate that about half of all Australian adults entered the draw, which surpassed the previous record of $107.6 million set in January.
