Tony Buzbee, the Texas attorney representing multiple accusers of Sean 'Diddy' Combs, has issued a defiant response after Jay-Z criticised him over a lawsuit alleging the rapper raped a 13-year-old girl. Buzbee posted a photo of himself as a Marine platoon commander on Instagram, stating he would not be intimidated by harassment targeting him and his family.
Buzbee added Jay-Z, real name Shawn Carter, to an anonymous lawsuit filed in New York's Southern District. The suit claims Combs and Jay-Z sexually assaulted a 13-year-old girl at an after-party following the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards. The accuser alleges she was given a drink that made her feel dizzy, then led to a bedroom where both men raped her while a female celebrity watched.
The lawsuit, originally filed in October against Combs alone, was refiled on Sunday to include Jay-Z. A judge ruled the case could proceed anonymously, citing sufficient cause. The accuser seeks unspecified damages under New York's Victims of Gender-Motivated Violence Protection Act.
Buzbee has filed over 100 lawsuits against Combs, though many were dropped when plaintiffs refused to reveal their identities. He accused unnamed parties of harassing his family, clients and colleagues to discredit him, but did not directly blame Jay-Z for the alleged harassment.
