Convicted paedophile and former Lostprophets frontman Ian Watkins was stabbed in his high-security cell at HMP Wakefield on 11 October last year. Dramatic prison CCTV footage, shown at Leeds Crown Court, captured Watkins emerging from his cell covered in blood after the attack.
Footage Details
The video appears to show alleged attacker Rico Gedel leaving the vicinity of Watkins' cell shortly after the incident, then engaging in a brief conversation with co-defendant Samuel Dodsworth. Gedel, 25, is accused of entering Watkins' cell less than 20 minutes after it was unlocked and stabbing him three times in the head and neck with a homemade knife.
Charges and Trial
Both Gedel and Dodsworth, 44, deny charges of murder and possession of a makeshift knife in prison. The trial is currently ongoing at Leeds Crown Court.
