Harry Styles has responded to criticism over the stage layout of his current tour, after some fans complained about obstructed views. The former One Direction star, 32, is performing 10 dates at Amsterdam's Johan Cruyff Arena as part of his Together, Together tour.
Addressing the backlash on Saturday, Styles explained that the stage was designed with multiple walkways to bring him closer to the audience. He told fans: 'The reason why we made the stage like this is because I wanted to be in it with you. I wanted to be as close to as many of you as possible, because that’s what this tour is all about.'
Despite his explanation, some concert-goers continued to vent on social media, with one branding the view 'offensive' and the 'worst of all time'. However, others praised the performance, and The Guardian gave the show a four-star review, noting the appeal of a pop star 'willing to push the envelope'.
In response to concerns, Styles' team announced adjustments to improve visibility while maintaining safety. From Friday, the front bridges will be altered in Amsterdam and London, with temporary barricade changes already made for some shows.
After Amsterdam, Styles will head to Wembley Stadium for 12 dates, supported by Shania Twain. He is promoting his fourth studio album, Kiss All The Time, and performing tracks from his earlier work, but not from his One Direction era.
