Former MasterChef star Gregg Wallace has admitted to financial struggles following his departure from the BBC show. The 61-year-old presenter revealed on Instagram that he 'worries about money probably much more than I should,' describing it as a lifelong anxiety.
Wallace, who was sacked last year after an investigation upheld complaints of inappropriate sexual language and humour, said the loss of his job caused his financial anxiety to spiral. 'So when I lost my job and all of my earnings, that anxiety just spiralled completely out of control,' he told followers.
Despite the setback, Wallace has turned to the fan video platform Cameo, where he charges £40 per personalised message. Insiders say he is on track to earn around £20,000 a month, equating to an estimated £240,000 a year—more than half of his previous BBC salary of £400,000.
Wallace is currently the fourth busiest celebrity on Cameo, promising to deliver videos within seven hours. Plugging the service, he described the messages as 'sincere, heartfelt, cheeky or funny.'
The TV personality's exit from MasterChef followed an extensive probe that upheld claims spanning nearly two decades, including allegations from celebrity contestants. Wallace has consistently denied any wrongdoing.
