Epstein's Disturbing Email Exchange with Emirati Billionaire Revealed
Paedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein told Emirati billionaire Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem that he "loved the torture video" in a shocking email exchange, according to newly unredacted files from the Epstein case. The documents reveal years of correspondence between the two men, including discussions about sex and links to fetish websites.
Years of Correspondence Uncovered
Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, CEO of international logistics firm DP World, has been identified as one of six "wealthy, powerful men" whose names were previously redacted in the Epstein files. The unredacted documents show that Epstein and Sulayem communicated via email and text messages over many years, with exchanges dating back to at least 2007.
In an April 2009 email to Sulayem, Epstein wrote: "where are you? are you ok , I loved the torture video." The billionaire replied: "I am in china I will be in the US 2nd week of may." This disturbing exchange is among numerous communications that have now been made public.
Sexual Content and Fetish Websites
The files reveal that the correspondence between Epstein and Sulayem frequently included sexual content. In 2015, Sulayem suggested visiting Epstein with his family and sent links to fetish porn websites. The following year, he emailed Epstein about his sexual experiences, with the paedophile responding by sending Sulayem a link to an escort website in 2017.
According to a separate cache of emails obtained by Bloomberg, Sulayem wrote to Epstein in 2007 about his attempts to meet a supermodel: "After several attemps [sic] for several months we managed to meet in NY. there is a missunderstanding [sic] she she wanted some BUSINESS! while i only wanted some P****NESS!"
Business Connections and Passport Request
In 2017, Sulayem shared a copy of a passport belonging to a "personal masseuse" at Epstein's "private spa," asking for help in finding her work as a trainee at the Rixos hotel in Antalya, Turkey. The files also include undated images of the two billionaires together, including one showing them cooking in a kitchen.
Sulayem is a real estate developer from Dubai with an estimated net worth of up to $8 billion. He has been CEO of DP World since 2016. The company, based in the United Arab Emirates, operates in cargo logistics, ports, and maritime services, claiming to move 10 percent of global trade daily.
Political Pressure for Transparency
The US Department of Justice allowed lawmakers access to the unredacted files for the first time on Monday, leading Democrat Ro Khanna and Republican Thomas Massie to name Sulayem alongside five others on Tuesday. Republican congressman Thomas Massie stated: "Until tonight no one knew who sent the torture video to Epstein. I went to DOJ, unredacted the email, and reverse searched the email to discover it was a Sultans."
Massie added: "Our law requires VICTIM's information to be redacted, not information of men who sent Epstein torture porn!" The DOJ is facing mounting pressure to release the remaining three million Epstein files and remove unnecessary redactions from the three million already published.
Legal Framework and Congressional Criticism
The Epstein Files Transparency Act, which became law in November, permits certain withholdings and redactions, including personally identifiable information about victims that would constitute a clear invasion of privacy. However, the Act prohibits redactions to save embarrassment, reputational harm, or political sensitivity, including for government officials, public figures, or foreign dignitaries.
Democrat Ro Khanna emphasized the scale of potential concealment: "If we found six men that they were hiding in two hours, imagine how many men they are covering up for in those three million files." Jamie Raskin, the House judiciary ranking member who reviewed the unredacted papers, noted: "I was able to determine, at least I believe, that there were tons of completely unnecessary redactions, in addition to the failure to redact the names of victims."
It is important to note that being named in the files does not suggest wrongdoing, and Sulayem has not been charged with any crime in connection to Epstein. Searches indicate his name appears more than 5,000 times in the documents. DP World employs 5,500 people in the United Kingdom, operating at ports and freight rail terminals including London Gateway and Southampton. The company is best known in the UK for purchasing P&O ferries in 2019 and controversially firing nearly 800 staff members in 2022 without prior notice or union consultation.
