Costco Recalls Heated Socks After Burn Injuries

Heated socks sold at Costco have been urgently recalled after dozens of customers reported suffering painful burn injuries, according to US safety officials. The controversial 32 Degrees Heated Socks, available in medium, large and extra-large sizes, have been flagged by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) as a potential hazard when worn during high intensity activities.

Safety Concerns and Incidents

In a worrying safety report, the CPSC revealed there have been 14 heat-related incidents linked to the product, with 13 cases resulting in first- or second-degree burns. Officials have not yet confirmed what exactly is causing the issue, leaving unanswered questions over whether the danger lies in the battery pack, heating elements, or prolonged exposure to heat.

Recall Details

In total, a staggering 207,806 packs have been pulled from shelves. The affected socks were sold at Costco stores and online between August 2025 and March 2026, with prices ranging from $30 to $46. Costco has yet to comment publicly on the recall. For further information, shoppers can contact 32 Degrees via its toll-free number, email, or through the company's website under the 'Sock Recall' section.

Customer Guidance

Customers are now being urged to stop using the socks immediately and return them for a full refund. Costco is well known for its generous return policy, allowing customers to bring back items they're not satisfied with for a wide range of reasons. The members-only warehouse giant, which boasts more than 900 locations globally, advertises a 'Risk-Free 100 Percent Satisfaction Guarantee' on its website. According to its policy, Costco does not specify an expiration date on the majority of refunds, nor does it require customers to bring a receipt.

Previous Notable Returns

Over the years, customers taking advantage of this offer have ranged from the average to the bizarre. In 2024, Costco's returns policy drew widespread attention when a video of a woman returning her two-and-a-half-year-old Costco couch without a receipt set the internet alight.
