Donald Trump has dismissed what he called "fake news" about his health after a cryptic post on Truth Social sparked online speculation. The US president, 79, addressed rumours that he was unwell during a press conference at the White House on Tuesday.
Mr Trump said he was "very active" on Labor Day, countering claims that he had not been seen in public for several days. When asked about reports suggesting he was "dead", he replied: "Well it's fake news. It's so fake... I knew they were saying, like: 'Is he okay? How's he feeling? What's wrong?'"
The president attributed the speculation to a brief absence from public view. "Last week I did numerous news conferences, all successful. Then I didn't do any for two days, and they said there must be something wrong with him," he said.
In July, it was revealed that Mr Trump had been diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency (CVI), a condition causing blood pooling in the veins. The announcement followed photographs showing bruising on his hand, which had been covered with makeup.
Mr Trump had previously addressed health concerns on Truth Social, writing: "NEVER FELT BETTER IN MY LIFE." Vice-President JD Vance also sought to reassure the public, telling USA Today that the president was in "incredibly good health."
