Gary Neville Acquires Mark Goldbridge's YouTube Channels in Seven-Figure Deal

Gary Neville's media company, The Overlap, has purchased Mark Goldbridge's YouTube channels, The United Stand and That's Football, in a deal reportedly worth seven figures. Goldbridge, whose real name is Brent Di Cesare, has amassed a combined 3.7 million subscribers across the two channels, known for his passionate and often critical commentary on Manchester United.

The Overlap, co-founded by Neville in 2021, is best known for its weekly podcast Stick to Football, featuring Roy Keane, Ian Wright, Jamie Carragher, Jill Scott, and guests. The company sold a majority stake to media giant Global earlier this year and is now expanding its YouTube presence.

Despite past tensions—Goldbridge has previously criticised Neville, and Neville has called out “those bloody YouTubers”—the two have reconciled for the deal. Neville told Broadcast Sport: “Mark has criticised me more than most, but we don’t have to agree. He knows what he does and he’s got to carry on criticising me. That’s how the world works.”

The acquisition will see the channels rebranded with new content, including Stick To United, a format featuring ex-players and journalists, and The Daily United, a news show. Neville indicated that The Overlap plans to acquire more YouTube channels in the future, saying: “We need to go into discussions with other channels, but we’re not in a rush. We’ll wait for the right opportunities in the next six, 12, 18 months. I don’t think of it as a media empire.”

Goldbridge expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, stating: “I’ve spent the last 10 years building The United Stand for Manchester United fans and That’s Football for all fans, and I’m prouder of that than anything I’ve ever done. This deal is about what comes next. The Overlap has the ambition, the credibility, and the resources to help me take what I do to the next level.”
