Keir Starmer Resigns: Poll and Reactions

Keir Starmer announced his resignation as Prime Minister this week, and Mirror readers have had much to say about the decision. The Labour leader, 63, met with Andy Burnham yesterday, their first face-to-face encounter since Starmer resigned and Burnham won the Makersfield by-election.

Successor Tipped: Andy Burnham

Burnham, who was mayor of Greater Manchester for nine years, is widely tipped to become the next leader. The 56-year-old confirmed his leadership campaign earlier this week and has been backed by figures such as Wes Streeting.

PMQs Clash: Badenoch Hits Out

Today, Starmer faced a fiery Prime Minister's Questions as Kemi Badenoch showed little sympathy for the outgoing leader. During a heated exchange, Badenoch lashed out at multiple Labour members, including Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson, whom she branded a "spiteful class warrior."

Phillipson and DWP Secretary Liz Kendall confronted the Tory leader as they passed in the voting division on their way out of PMQs, with Kendall calling out the behaviour. In response, Badenoch is said to have told Phillipson: "I'm never going to stop talking about how spiteful you are." The fuming Education Secretary, who was allegedly forced to shout her reply as Badenoch walked off, said: "The public are going to find out who you really are."

The opposition leader dismissed Burnham as "a pair of eyelashes and a black T-shirt" in a particularly brutal jibe, made as she commented on Labour MPs who had let the PM down.
