Four Palestine Action Hunger Strikers in Critical Health After 50+ Days
Palestine Action hunger strikers' health deteriorates in jail

The families of four activists linked to the pro-Palestinian network Palestine Action have issued a fresh and urgent update, confirming the protesters are continuing a dangerous hunger strike while in custody. Their health is reported to be deteriorating severely, with some having refused food for over 50 days.

Legal Challenge Issued Amid Health Crisis

According to the families' statement, the situation has become critical. In response, the protesters' legal team launched a formal challenge to Justice Secretary David Lammy on Monday 23 December 2025. They demanded an urgent meeting and a response within 24 hours, citing the grave medical condition of those on strike.

The activists are currently awaiting trial for alleged offences connected to protests against Israeli defence interests in the UK. The charges relate to incidents including break-ins at sites linked to Elbit Systems UK, an Israeli defence contractor, and alleged criminal damage at RAF Brize Norton.

Government Stance and Protesters' Demands

Alongside concerns for their welfare, the hunger strikers are calling for the lifting of a terror ban on the Palestine Action group. However, the government has so far taken a firm stance. Both the Ministry of Justice and Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer's office have stated they will not meet with the prisoners or their representatives.

Officials argue that prison rules are being correctly followed and that engaging under these circumstances would create what they term "perverse incentives". This position leaves the families and legal team in a tense standoff as they watch the health of the strikers decline.

Families Voice Grave Concerns

One of the strikers named by supporters is Teuta Hoxha, who her family confirms is still refusing food in jail. The collective fear is that without immediate intervention, the consequences could be dire. The situation highlights the escalating tactics used by some activist groups and the complex challenges faced by the UK justice system in responding to them.

As of Thursday 25 December 2025, the pledge from the strikers to continue remains, placing immense pressure on authorities to find a resolution before a potential tragedy unfolds within the prison system.
