Two teenagers have been hospitalised with stab wounds after a large-scale fight involving approximately 30 young people erupted on Southend High Street in Essex, police have confirmed.
Incident Details
Essex Police responded to reports of a disturbance at around 7:50 pm on Friday evening, where a significant altercation was underway. Witnesses reported seeing weapons during the confrontation, and police confirmed that weapons were both seen and used.
The two injured teenagers, whose ages have not been disclosed, are currently receiving treatment in hospital for injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.
Police Response
Officers remain at the scene as they work to restore order and ensure public safety. Dispersal orders have been implemented, granting additional police powers across Southend High Street, Queensway through to Hamlet Court Road, and the seafront area.
Under these orders, police can search individuals or vehicles for offensive weapons without requiring suspicion, and can insist on the removal of face coverings. Local officers will continue to patrol the area throughout the evening to maintain security.
Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
