California Man Accused of Poisoning Roommates in Shocking Camera Footage

A man from California has been accused of deliberately poisoning his roommates after they discovered him on camera spraying their food with an unknown substance. The incident occurred in a shared home in Santa Clarita, where the suspect, who remains unidentified, was filmed wearing a gas mask while contaminating groceries.

Footage Reveals Brazen Act in Kitchen

Roommates Billy and Davidson Hopper alerted Santa Clarita police on Tuesday after reviewing hours of footage from a kitchen camera. They had grown suspicious due to recurring health issues, including feeling unwell, which prompted them to investigate. The footage showed the suspect spraying items such as fruit, vegetables, coffee pots, and pantry goods like chips, cereal, canned items, and spices.

"We've caught it on video twice," Billy stated. "He was spraying stuff all over our groceries, like our fruit, our vegetables, our coffee pot that we use every morning and our whole pantry full of all of our chips and our cereal, all of our canned goods or spices everything. He sprayed it all over everything."

Health Issues and Hospitalizations

The couple reported experiencing repeated health problems over recent months, with both requiring hospital visits for mysterious illnesses. Davidson explained, "I have liver damage and [Billy] had health issues on top of the ones that she already has." In October, Billy had to visit the emergency room, where tests indicated potential poisoning based on blood work results.

Police had previously responded to two separate calls at the residence for food poisoning in the last six months. Doctors were reportedly confused by the inexplicable symptoms, adding to the couple's distress.

Police Standoff and Arrest

After the roommates provided the footage to authorities, police engaged in an hours-long standoff with the suspect at the home. Officers believed the individual might be experiencing a mental health crisis during the incident. Eventually, the suspect exited the property and was taken into custody.

Following the arrest, Billy and Davidson also accused their roommate of theft and damaging their property. "We've been in fear for our lives," Billy said. "We don't want to be in fear anymore we're tired of it, we just want to be safe."

Legal Proceedings and Investigation

Police obtained a search warrant for the home, and the suspect was released on a notice to appear in court. The case has drawn attention from local authorities, with inquiries made to the Los Angeles County Police and the Santa Clarita District Attorney for further comment.

This alarming episode highlights concerns over safety in shared living situations and the severe consequences of such alleged actions. The roommates are now seeking justice and safety as the legal process unfolds.
