Love Island Staff Reassured Show Will Continue After Caroline Flack's Death

Love Island crew members have been told the show is 'safe' and their jobs are secure following the tragic death of former presenter Caroline Flack. The mood on set in Cape Town, South Africa, has been described as 'on the floor' and 'incredibly low' as production resumed ahead of Monday's episode.

An insider told MailOnline that senior staff are constantly checking on the wellbeing of workers, but the death is all anyone can think about. Despite the grief, production has been reassured that the summer series will go ahead as planned, and ITV2 bosses are looking to recruit Laura Whitmore as a permanent host.

Contestants on the current series have not yet been told of Caroline's death, and it remains unclear if they will be informed later. Monday's episode will begin with a montage tribute to Flack, narrated by Iain Stirling as usual.

ITV cancelled the Love Island Unseen Bits and Sunday's episode following Flack's death on Saturday. Monday's Aftersun has also been cancelled out of respect. Laura Whitmore paid tribute to her friend on BBC 5 Live, describing the show as 'loving and caring and safe and protected', and blaming the outside world for the problems.
