Former Border Patrol Commander Ejected from Las Vegas Bar Days After Reassignment
Greg Bovino, the former Border Patrol commander recently removed from his leadership role in Minneapolis, was escorted from a prominent Las Vegas sports bar this week. The 55-year-old official was asked to leave the Bottled Blonde venue on the Vegas Strip, where he had been socializing and drinking red wine.
Bar Staff Act to Maintain 'Safe Environment'
According to a statement from Bottled Blonde representatives, staff became aware of Bovino's presence and promptly asked him to depart. 'Upon becoming aware of the individual's presence, the patron was asked to leave the premises and was escorted out by staff in accordance with venue policy to maintain a safe and orderly environment for all patrons,' the establishment told media outlets.
The bar emphasized its rights as a private business, stating: 'Bottled Blonde does not engage in political activity or affiliations. As a private business, Bottled Blonde reserves the right to refuse service to any patron at its discretion.'
Images Show Bovino in Civilian Attire Before Removal
Photos and video circulating online captured Bovino inside the multi-level sports bar shortly before his departure. Instead of his usual tactical gear, he appeared in civilian clothes—a maroon sweater and blue jeans—holding a large glass of red wine while laughing with a group of younger men.
One widely shared image posted to social media was captioned: 'Border Patrol commander Greg Bovino appears to have made a stop in Las Vegas following his departure from the ongoing Minnesota operation.'
Additional footage reviewed showed Bovino drinking wine and chatting with companions before staff approached him. Images taken afterward depicted him walking along Las Vegas Boulevard with the same group after leaving the venue.
Reassignment Follows Controversial Immigration Crackdown
The Las Vegas incident comes just days after Bovino was abruptly reassigned from Minneapolis, where he had overseen a highly controversial federal immigration crackdown. The operation sparked nationwide protests and political backlash due to aggressive enforcement tactics and fatal confrontations during enforcement actions.
President Donald Trump withdrew Bovino from the Minneapolis operation following public outcry, replacing him with border czar Tom Homan. Homan pledged to scale back tensions and bring a different approach to the volatile situation.
Leadership Shift Amid Mounting Political Pressure
Bovino had been a central figure in aggressive immigration enforcement strategies, embracing rapid-response operations designed to quickly detain individuals suspected of being in the country illegally. His leadership style and tactics had made him one of the most visible figures in federal immigration enforcement.
His reassignment marks a significant shift in leadership at a time of mounting political pressure. Following the unrest and fatal encounters in Minneapolis, the White House moved to replace him amid concerns over escalating tensions and public backlash.
Bovino has not publicly commented on the Las Vegas bar incident or his recent reassignment from Minneapolis immigration operations.
