A six-year-old boy has tragically died following a collision with a car in Ellesmere Port over the weekend, prompting a serious police investigation and an arrest for drug driving.

Details of the Fatal Incident

Cheshire Police were called to Anchor Drive in Ellesmere Port at approximately 11.40am on Sunday, April 19, after receiving reports that a child had been struck by a black Infiniti FX30D vehicle. The young boy was immediately taken to hospital with family members, where they were met by police officers and paramedics near the Whitby Sports and Social Club.

He was subsequently transported to the Countess of Chester Hospital for urgent medical treatment. Despite the efforts of medical staff, the boy later succumbed to his injuries and passed away in hospital. His next of kin have been informed and are currently receiving support from specialist police officers during this devastating time.

Arrest and Investigation

In connection with the incident, a 48-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of multiple driving offences. These include causing death by dangerous driving, drug driving, and driving otherwise in accordance with a licence. The suspect has since been released on bail as the investigation continues.
