Massachusetts law enforcement has launched a hate crime investigation into the fatal stabbing of an immigrant in a Boston suburb, just days before a scheduled Donald Trump rally in the area.
The victim, a 26-year-old man whose identity remains protected, was brutally attacked outside a convenience store in Rockland, approximately 25 miles south of Boston. According to family members and local authorities, the assailant allegedly shouted racial slurs and anti-immigrant insults during the violent assault.
Family's Heartbreaking Account
The victim's brother provided a chilling account to local media, stating the attacker specifically targeted his brother with xenophobic language. "He was yelling things about immigrants and telling him to go back to his country," the grieving family member recounted.
Emergency services rushed the severely injured man to South Shore Hospital following the Wednesday evening attack, but medical staff were unable to save his life.
Police Response and Investigation
Suffolk County District Attorney Kevin Hayden confirmed his office is treating the case with " extreme seriousness" and coordinating with Rockland Police Department's investigation. "We are exploring every angle, including whether this was a racially motivated crime," Hayden stated.
Local authorities have increased patrols in the area as the investigation continues. Police are reviewing surveillance footage from nearby businesses and seeking witnesses who might have observed the altercation.
