Vicky Pattison 'Absolutely Terrified' About Becoming a Mother

Vicky Pattison's Emotional Journey Towards Motherhood

Reality television personality Vicky Pattison has bravely revealed she feels "absolutely terrified" about the prospect of becoming a mother. The 38-year-old star, married to Ercan Ramadan since 2024, made this tearful admission during a candid discussion about starting a family.

Exploring Family Options on Channel 4 Series

The couple's journey is currently documented in the Channel 4 programme Vicky Pattison: Maybe Baby?, where they have thoroughly examined various pathways to parenthood. Throughout the series, they have considered multiple options including natural conception, adoption, and even surrogacy arrangements.

One particularly emotional episode saw Pattison breaking down as she realised her openness to adopting a child with Ramadan. Despite exploring these alternatives, the series concludes with the couple deciding to pursue natural conception as their preferred method to start their family.

Deep-Seated Fears About Maternal Capabilities

During an appearance on Giovanna Fletcher's Happy Mum Happy Baby podcast, Pattison expressed her profound anxieties about motherhood. "I am absolutely terrified, and I'll cry when I say this, I have a genuine fear that I won't be good enough to be a mam," she confessed emotionally.

Her husband Ramadan offered reassuring perspective, pointing to her nurturing behavior with their two Labrador dogs, Milo and Max. "Unbelievable. I've seen the way you are with the dogs, I've seen the way you are with me, she's going to be unbelievable. She's incredible," he affirmed confidently.

Health Concerns Impacting Parenting Fears

Pattison has previously disclosed how her medical condition, premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD), contributes to her parenting anxieties. The former Geordie Shore star experiences severe symptoms including "crippling" anxiety and insomnia during the weeks preceding her monthly period.

Speaking to The Sun, she elaborated: "I am a woman of a certain age who would love to have kids. But my fear is that my condition will make it very difficult to be the mum that I want to be." She expressed concerns about symptoms like exhaustion affecting her ability to be the patient, loving mother she aspires to become.

Couple's Decision and Intimate Revelations

On their television series, the couple reached a significant decision about their future. Pattison told Ramadan: "I want a family and I want to be a mam." Her husband echoed this sentiment, suggesting: "I think we should try and have a baby this year."

While delighted by this mutual agreement, Pattison admitted: "I'm still scared!" Ramadan humorously acknowledged sharing this apprehension, responding: "Yeah I'm terrified!"

In related revelations, Pattison recently disclosed on her Get a Grip podcast with Angela Scanlon that she and Ramadan have consulted a sex therapist. This decision stemmed from PMDD symptoms affecting her libido, which she described as "one of the symptoms I don't often talk about."

Despite her fears and health challenges, Pattison's journey toward motherhood continues with Ramadan's steadfast support and their mutual commitment to building a family together.
