Second Lady Usha Vance Displays Pregnancy During Hungary Visit with Vice President

Second Lady Usha Vance, 40, cradled her growing baby bump as she arrived in Budapest with her husband, Vice President JD Vance, on Tuesday. The couple's trip to Hungary comes just months before Usha's July due date for their fourth child, a baby boy.

Fashion and Diplomacy Combine in Budapest Arrival

The soon-to-be mother-of-four looked radiant in a monochromatic lilac-purple ensemble as she disembarked from Air Force Two. Usha wore a midi-length purple satin skirt, believed to be from designer Veronica Beard with an original retail price of $448, paired with a lilac short-sleeved cashmere sweater. She completed the look with black heels and a simple diamond bracelet.

Upon arrival, the couple was welcomed by Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto, who presented Usha with a bouquet of pink flowers. The Vances are visiting Prime Minister Viktor Orban of Hungary, with reports suggesting the Vice President aims to bolster Orban's campaign ahead of Sunday's election, where polls indicate the Prime Minister may face defeat.

Growing Vance Family and Naming Traditions

The Vances, who met at Yale Law School and married in 2014, announced their pregnancy in January. They are already parents to three children: eight-year-old son Ewan, five-year-old son Vivek, and four-year-old daughter Mirabel.

In a recent exclusive interview with the Daily Mail, JD Vance revealed their unconventional approach to naming their children. "We've talked about a few names," the Vice President said. "We're working on it, but with all three of our kids, we actually didn't settle on their names until after they were born, which is, I think, pretty unusual."

Vance explained further: "Most people choose a name before the kid is born. I think Usha and I have never just found a name where it's like, 'Alright, this is what we want to name our kid.' And so we always wait to meet them and settle on the names from there."

MAGA Baby Boom and Usha's Advocacy Work

Usha's pregnancy announcement follows similar news from other figures in the MAGA political sphere, including Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, who is expecting a girl in May, and Katie Miller, wife of Homeland Security Advisor Stephen Miller. This has led some Trump supporters to declare a "MAGA baby boom."

During her previous pregnancies, Usha has spoken about experiencing anemia. In a recent interview with Meghan McCain, she discussed this health challenge and her experiences as a mother.

The Hungary trip follows Usha's participation in the White House Easter Egg Roll, where she read to children. The Second Lady has recently launched a new podcast, "Storytime With the Second Lady," advocating for childhood literacy. The podcast features prominent figures like NASCAR legend Danica Patrick reading short stories and discussing themes in 15-minute episodes designed for young children.

Usha has expressed concern about declining literacy rates among children, calling the trend "worrisome" and stating, "If I was going to do anything, this would be the thing to focus on at this moment in time." This isn't her first literacy initiative; last year she promoted a "Summer Reading Challenge" that encouraged children to read 12 books during their school break, with participants receiving prizes and certificates for completion.
