A US lawmaker has urged Sarah Ferguson to testify about her links to the late child sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein. Virginia Democrat Representative Suhas Subramanyam made a direct plea to the Duchess of York, requesting her cooperation over her 'close personal and business ties' with Epstein.
Subramanyam's letter, seen by the BBC, asks Ferguson to provide any further knowledge she has regarding her former husband Prince Andrew's involvement with Epstein. The lawmaker stated: 'I write to seek your cooperation with the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform's investigation into Jeffrey Epstein's sex trafficking operations.'
The letter references an email from 'Sarah' referring to Epstein as a 'legend' after his 2008 conviction, and another from 2010 requesting a loan of up to $100,000. It also notes that Epstein was involved in discussions to become a major owner of Ferguson's company.
This public plea comes after Ferguson was stripped of her 'Freedom of the City of York' honour following a unanimous vote. The honour had been awarded in 1987 after her marriage to Prince Andrew.
