Rock singer Taylor Momsen, frontwoman of The Pretty Reckless, has been hospitalised following a venomous spider bite while on tour in Mexico supporting legendary band AC/DC. This alarming incident marks the second time in two years that the performer has suffered a serious arachnid attack during her musical engagements.
Hospital Admission and Performance Plans
The 32-year-old former actress was admitted to a medical facility earlier this week after the spider bite occurred. Taking to Instagram on Tuesday, Momsen disclosed the frightening ordeal to her followers while initially insisting she would still perform that evening despite the health scare.
She posted: "Hospital today, show tomorrow, poisonous spiders are NO BUENO. But the show must go on, see you tomorrow, Mexico City!" However, the situation proved more serious than anticipated, with Momsen providing an update the following morning that revealed she had spent the night under medical observation.
Medical Documentation and Previous Incidents
Accompanying her social media message was an image showing the musician seated in a hospital bed wearing a black face mask while pressing a blue ice pack against her head. She also documented the gruesome aftermath of the bite on her leg as she was wheeled on a gurney, providing visual evidence of the severity of the incident.
This represents the second occasion the star has fallen victim to a poisonous spider while touring Mexico alongside rock legends AC/DC. Earlier this month, after revealing yet another spider bite, she humorously questioned: "When do my superpowers kick in? That's what I want to know."
Tour Hazards and Animal Encounters
Momsen elaborated on the recurring theme of animal encounters during her touring experiences, stating: "So it wouldn't be an AC/DC tour if I didn't get bit...this time a massive spider decided to take a chunk out of me and its venom did a number on my system so had to have the wonderful doctors in Mexico come and deliver quite the shot before the show last night...add it to the list! Spider woman? Batgirl? WTF."
Remarkably, this is not the first unusual animal encounter Momsen has experienced while performing. During another leg of the tour with AC/DC in May 2024, she suffered a bat bite to her leg mid-performance, requiring two weeks of rabies vaccinations afterward.
Fan Support and Industry Reactions
The vocalist jokingly suggested she might be a "witch" following the bat incident, recalling: "So... ROCK AND ROLL MOMENT...in Sevilla Wednesday during 'Witches Burn' of all songs... a BAT flew onto me and clung to my leg...in the moment I was performing and had no idea until the incredible crowd kept screaming and pointing."
Her recent hospitalisation post was soon flooded with well-wishes from fellow musicians and fans. Ruth Clapton penned: "Sending you so much strength and healing." Nancy Wilson added: "A world rock tour can sometimes be a war zone! Heal like the wind and stay alert." Nick Perri wrote: "Sending you love and good vibes T, you got this."
Despite these repeated health scares during performances, Momsen maintains her commitment to continuing the tour, demonstrating the resilience expected of touring musicians facing unexpected challenges on the road.
