Peter Andre has candidly addressed the "harsh criticism" he endured at the start of his career, while applauding fellow former teen star Miley Cyrus for her openness about the pressures of early fame. The singer, now 52, rose to prominence in the 1990s with his hit single Mysterious Girl and has maintained a successful showbiz career ever since.
Miley Cyrus's Influence and Shared Experiences
In his column for new! magazine, Andre noted that Miley Cyrus, who gained global recognition as a teenager on Hannah Montana, has been offering advice to younger entertainers. He revealed his own struggles, stating, "I saw that Miley Cyrus said it took her until adulthood to realise just how harshly judged she was when she was a teenager starring as Hannah Montana."
Andre emphasised the difficulty of achieving success without facing severe scrutiny, adding, "It’s very hard to get to success, without some harsh criticism, I certainly have had it - especially in those early days. I understand what she’s saying." He believes that times may have changed, but the industry still requires guidance to help newcomers avoid past pitfalls.
The Unique Pressures of Public Life
The singer highlighted the distinct challenges of working in the public eye, explaining, "There’s a lot of pressure in any job but in the public eye, the pressure comes from people who don’t know you who are allowed to have an opinion." He commended Cyrus for feeling a duty to protect younger stars, viewing it as a positive step for the entertainment world.
Miley Cyrus began her role on Hannah Montana at just 13 years old, portraying a character with a secret pop star life. Similarly, Andre was a teenager when he participated in a television talent show that led to a recording contract, drawing parallels between their early career experiences.

Andre, who shares children Junior, 20, and Princess, 18, with ex-wife Katie Price, has seen his eldest embark on showbiz careers. This has led to missing Valentine's Day celebrations with his wife. He remarked, "It’s nearly Valentine’s Day and unfortunately I have a show... What's important to me is to not miss things like birthdays and the children's birthdays but we do have to compromise sometimes." Despite the distance, he assured that Emily remains in his heart, and she will receive a token of his affection on the special day.
